Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformations (PAVM) is abnormal vascular connections between the pulmonary arterial and pulmonary venous circulations having a direct capillary free communication. This creates a Right to Left (R-L) shunt. PAVMs can be either congenital or acquired.
