GAIT can be defined as a person's manner of walking in medical terminology it can be defined as a manner of walking or moving on foot. 2 : a sequence of foot movements (as a walk, trot, pace, or canter) by which a horse or a dog moves forward. The pattern of walking known as 'tandem gait' involves walking with the heel of one foot placed directly in front of the toes of the other, i.e. with a walking base close to zero is called normal gait Medical professionals can tell a lot about a person's health from their gait, including if they have neurologic, muscular, or skeletal problems. Gait has two phases: swing phase and stance phase. Swing phase occurs when the foot is not in contact with the ground, beginning when the foot leaves the ground and ending with the heel strike of the same foot. The stance phase is comprised of all the activity that occurs when the foot is in contact with the ground, beginning with heel strike and ending with toe off of the same foot
