Nursing Leadership

Nursing leadership has been described as motivating others to enhance the standard of care along with direct involvement in clinical care. Nursing leadership encompasses an environment where the team is empowered and driven, with a clear vision. Nursing leaders are agents in the healthcare team which have followers. Nursing leadership is about having the workers and the mission motivated. Nurse leaders need skills, such as understanding of others, self-confidence and the ability to effectively develop teams. Nursing leadership as a progressive advocates network, and inspiring others. Leadership is included in the role and practice of skilled nursing, as all positions in nursing are leadership roles. Most nurse leadership, however, is mostly associated with nurse supervisors, and is less associated with bedside nursing.
