Pharmaceutical industry today needs more effective development and production of medicines. Drug creation is intended to design a quality product and manufacturing process which can produce the product reliably with its expected output. To meet patient needs a drug product should be developed. The knowledge and information gained from research and manufacturing experience in drug development offer a scientific understanding to support the establishment of specifications, design space, and controls on production. For example, a more systematic approach to development may include a combination of prior knowledge, study results using experimental design, the use of quality risk management and the use of knowledge management throughout the product lifecycle.
