Urinary Tract Infections

The process of invasion of a disease-causing agent in an individual's body tissues is known as infection. These infectious agents replicate in the host tissues and produces toxins. On considering the results of the infection the infectious diseases are also known as a communicable disease and transmissible disease.  The infection in any part of the urinary system like kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra is known as a urinary tract infection. Record of the infections involve the lower urinary tract, the bladder and the urethra.

Women are at higher risk of evolving a urinary tract infection than men. Amongst the adults aged 20 to 50 years, urinary tract infections are about 50-fold more common in women. Most UTIs are cystitis or pyelonephritis in women with this age group and in men most UTIs are urethritis or prostatitis. The occurrence of UTI upsurges in patients > 50 years, but the female: male ratio declines because of the cumulative frequency of prostate expansion and composition in men. Aspects resulting in cooperation of normal host fortifications to bacterial colonization are an significant step in the pathogenesis of Urinary Tract Infections.
