Abstract :

The loss or missing of a tooth presents the dental surgeon with a great challenge on how to restore a beautiful smile, especially for adolescents Teeth are lost or missing due to various factors such as congenital or pre-existing genetic conditions. Early loss may also be indicative of trauma, caries or periodontal diseases Such a situation may present a difficult choice to many clinicians as the options and treatment planning may be long, wrought with clinical problems. The treatment option could be replaced with dentures, temporary provisional bridges, tooth transplantations, orthodontics, or a combination of some or all of the above. Single or multiple implants with either crown or bridge may also be a solution. This paper will outline the pros and cons of either of these techniques. It will also show long-term follow-up cases for both transplanted tooth as well as implant cases. Recent Publications: 1. Yunus, Norsiah & Abdullah, Hadijah & Hanapiah, Firdaus. (2001).
