Cosmetic dentistry is gaining an increasing popularity recently and it became highly desirable by patients due to the nearly ideal end results seen in the famous before and after pictures. But behind this perfect after picture there is a lot of challenging work including planning, treating and communication done by the dental team, in fact some cases are more challenging than others and there the dentist himself could underestimate complexities faced through-out the procedure. My goal in this lecture is to simplify these complex and challenging cosmetic cases with the aid of real life cases from my own practice. To simply the complexity, I will focus in my lecture on the following points: Diagnosis, indications and contraindications of esthetic cases; how to deal with esthetic cases; how to design esthetic cases; case preparation (onlay, inlay, composite fillings, crowns and bridges, mock ups); shade selection; photography (equipment, photography for study cases and marketing purposes); finishing and smile make over and; how to market your dental practice (build up your targeted audience). Learning these points from a practical point of view has helped me and many other dentists to overcome many difficulties that we face.
