Children is not suppossed to die so early in their lifes. For the caregivers like parents and family it is a very challenging time and their emotional wellbeing are overlooked. It takes special people who assist them in this journey, It is not always the most qualified person that brings comfort. People who care for the dying pediatric population don’t only care for the dying but also the parents and siblings How can we as palliative care healthcare workers assist the family is the transition from life to death. What is needed to ensure that the patients and their family are well cared for What is the role of a multidisciplinary team to assist the family. How can the multidisciplinary team ensure that they cope with the demands of a dying child.
Annette van Ginkel is a nurse in pediatric intensive care . Has intensive expertise in Palliative and end of life care .She is a bereavement counselor and educator ,life and transformational coach . Annette has her expertise in and passion in improving the health and wellbeing of staff and patients including their families .Due to her own journey of her child dying she is able to address the needs of staff and the family .
