Editorial

Journal of Nursing Research and Practice commemorates its decade long service to the scientific community by consistently publishing peerreviewed articles and tracking the progress and significant advancements in the field of nursing. Journal is releasing special issues and conference proceedings along with regular issues since 2016, thus comprehensively covering a wide range of topics and emerging challenges in nursing. The journal focuses on application oriented research on Nursing Care Quality, Health care, Pediatric care, Physician implementation, Family Health Care Nursing, Community Health Systems, Physiological Nursing, Long-Term Care, Nurse Research Training, and Clinical Training in Nursing. In this issue some of the recent and impactful research articles that were published by the journal will be discussed.

Felicia Hunt [1] reported their research work wherein, they have shown the Nursing ethics and moral courage in nursing practice. The purpose of the paper is to evaluate the relationship of the Nursing Code of Ethics in nursing practice and how they affect relationships among healthcare professionals, patients and their loved ones. There is a lack of knowledge amongst many nursing health care professionals regarding consistent and precise utilization of the Nursing Code of Ethics and the basic ethical principles which creates gaps in healthcare which also involves health care disparities. They concluded strategies which are necessary to promote optimal quality healthcare in all rural communities nationwide and also summarize the major key points that will be helpful in bridging the gaps in healthcare which will also decrease the burden of major healthcare disparities in rural communities.

Faezeh Soltani et al. [2] have shown the evaluation of the level of emotional compatibility in patients undergoing cardiac surgery and its relationship with delirium aims to investigate the relationship between delirium level and emotional adaptability in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery. This study is across-sectional correlation study on 250 patients undergoing open heart surgery in the intensive care unit of Alzahra hospital, Kerman in 2019. The findings showed there was a significant relationship between Delirium and emotional compatibility (r=0.663, p<0.000). The mean score of delirium was 19/43 ± 3/83. The results of regression analysis show that, age (19%) and emotional compatibility (43%) seeking predicted of delirium variance. Delirium after CABG surgery is more prevalent in patients with low emotional compatibility. Therefore, the importance of emotional compatibility on delirium after CABG can be the background for Multiple Nursing Interventions.

Louise Nortje et al. [3] developed streamlining the efficiency of pre-operative nurse led clinic in the development of clinical pathway of a surgical patient. Nurse-led preoperative assessment has been introduced in different specialty areas to assess and prepare patients preoperatively in order to avoid last minute surgery cancellations. Nowadays, some of the Pre-operative assessment clinics are operated and coordinated by the nurse practitioner. Awareness has been initiated to multidisciplinary team members to deliver awareness and optimization of patient’s readiness. This project aimed to produce a more patient- centered service by increasing standard of work to increase efficiency of patient safety and effectiveness of the PONLC.

These research articles published by the journal have immense relevance and Nursing ethics and moral courage in nursing practice and in streamlining the efficiency of pre-operative nurse led clinic in the development of clinical pathway of a surgical patient.
