Leg edema after femoropoplıteal bypass: a case report factors and management

Author(s): Nazmiye Selcukkapisiz

Introduction: Factors responsible for edema formation in a patient who had femoropopliteal bypass and its inhibitory effect on healing were examined in this study. Femoropopliteal bypass was performed with autogenous saphenous graft in a 50‐year‐old male diabetic patient with superficial femoral arterial occlusion of right leg. Antithrombin III defficiency was detected in the patient in whom wound healing was delayed and grade 2‐3 edema formation occurred in the operated leg. We think that detailed preoperative evaluation and meticulous surgical care could help in the prevention of this complication.
