INTRODUCTION:
Liver diseases in pregnancy are associated with complications and sometimes worse outcome for both mother and baby. It occurs in approximately 3% of all pregnancies, and may lead to various maternal and perinatal morbidities, some of them with fatal consequences for both mother and child.
OBJECTIVE:
To determine the trends and consequences of liver diseases in pregnancy
METHODS:
This prospective study was conducted at Gastroenterology department, ward 23 and Gynecology & Obstetrics department, JPMC, Karachi, Pakistan. All the pregnant women having concomitant liver disease were included in this study. Baseline characteristics and clinical data entered and analyzed by using SPSS version 21.
RESULTS:
Total 105 patients were evaluated in the study. Seven patients were lost to follow up and excluded from the study. Mean age was 27.49 ± 6.02 years.
